3D preview

Upload your model as IFC, glTF or GLB and review it in the browser: orbit, zoom, pick a viewpoint, set the sun for site, date and time. Nothing to install, also on a tablet at the client’s table.

In short

The VEDUTUM 3D preview shows an uploaded building model directly in the browser. You orbit and zoom, choose camera positions and set the sun position for the real site at any time of day. IFC files are converted automatically, glTF and GLB appear at once. The preview is part of every plan and the starting point for renderings and camera flights.

Why a preview comes before the rendering

A rendering is the end of a chain of decisions: viewpoint, focal length, time of day, framing. Taking those decisions on the finished image means ordering two or three times. The preview moves them forward, before any compute time is spent.

It also makes the model understandable in the meeting. A volume you can turn, with the right sun at any hour, answers many questions before they are asked.

What the preview does

  • Upload models

IFC from Archicad, Revit, Vectorworks or Allplan, glTF and GLB from SketchUp, Rhino or Blender.

  • Navigate in the browser

Orbit, pan and zoom with mouse, trackpad or touch, via WebGL.

  • Pick camera positions

Corner at eye level, front, aerial, low street view. The same positions are used for renderings.

  • Calculate the sun

Latitude, longitude and north angle of the project plus date and time, calculated after the NOAA method.

  • Compare variants

Every uploaded file stays in the project; switch between design states.

  • Share with clients

A read-only link to model and renderings, revocable at any time.

How it works

  1. Create a project

Name, client and location. The location drives the sun position.

  2. Upload a model

IFC, glTF or GLB up to 95 MB.

  3. Review and set up

Choose viewpoint and time of day, compare variants.

  4. Share or render

Send a link to the client or order a still or video.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a graphics card?

No. The preview runs in any current browser with WebGL. Very large models run more smoothly on devices with a dedicated GPU.

Can I edit the model in the preview?

No. Make changes in your design software and upload a new version; the old one stays for comparison.

How accurate is the sun position?

It follows the NOAA solar calculator and is accurate to a fraction of a degree for design purposes, provided location and north angle are set correctly.

How long do you wait for an image today?

Send us a model from a current project, as IFC or GLB. We show you in a video call what VEDUTUM makes of it.
